The Sardinian tradition tells that ...
In the past, women kept their jewels and handed them down from generation to generation as sacred and precious objects; they were given various meanings, but to find the most hidden, we must go back to the origin of the myth that tells of fairies that, in their enchanted houses, weaved threads of gold and silver that became fabrics embroidered with precious stones.
In Sardinia since ancient times, the jewels "Prendas" were attributed therapeutic and protective properties and therefore had the function of mediating between men and gods: they became so amulets with the main function of dispensing health, of removing envy, bad luck and to protect from malefics.
These particular objects have become part of the traditional costume and, given their remarkable aesthetic value, are currently reproduced in order to obtain real jewels.
Kokko or pinnadellu, otherwise known as Sabegia, amulet characterized by a sphere of black color bound in silver to form a pendant in order to protect the child from the evil eye, hanging from clothes or cradles.
